The only way that you can be nominated for this award in the first place is if someone does it for you…

You don’t do it yourself.

It was a surprise when I got The Rising Tide Society’s first email that I was nominated by someone — I still don’t know who!

When I got to the semi-finalist round, they asked me submit detailed responses to an array of questions.

From there, they determined who would win. A month ago, I found out I did.

Like so many others, I cycle through my doubts about my work, my purpose, my impact…

That’s why I’m grateful to be acknowledged in this moment and I love how diverse the fellow winners are, as well as the fact that this was inclusive of individuals all around the world.
